In perhaps the most widely debated address ever given by a foreign leader to Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described a “fateful crossroads” on the Iranian nuclear threat and said that the emerging deal between Iran and world powers is paving the way for a Middle East “littered with nuclear bombs.”
“This deal has two major concessions: one, leaving Iran with a vast nuclear program, and two, lifting the restrictions on that program in about a decade,” Netanyahu said in his speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday morning.
“That’s why this deal is so bad,” he said. “It doesn’t block Iran’s path to the bomb, it paves Iran’s path to the bomb.”
Netanyahu’s two U.S. speeches—Tuesday’s Congressional address and Monday’s speech at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference—come against the backdrop of U.S.-Israel disagreements on both protocol and policy. The White House and some Democratic legislators have opposed Netanyahu’s Congress speech on the grounds that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) did not consult President Barack Obama about inviting the prime minister.
At the same time, while the proposed Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act of 2015 would impose new sanctions on Iran if the country does not reach a political framework agreement in its nuclear talks with the P5+1 powers by March 24, Obama has vowed to veto any new sanctions legislation that passes in Congress.
During his speech to AIPAC, Netanyahu declared that reports of the demise of the U.S.-Israel alliance are premature and wrong, and that the two countries “must always remember that we are family.” At the start of his remarks to Congress on Tuesday, the prime minister struck a similar tone, saying that the “remarkable alliance” between the U.S. and Israel “has always been above politics, and must always remain above politics.”
Netanyahu praised Obama for the support the president has provided Israel in areas such as security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and standing up for Israel at the United Nations. He also thanked Obama for assistance in lesser-known areas, such as U.S. support for Israel during natural disasters and during the siege on Israel’s embassy in Cairo in 2011.
“In each of those moments, I called the president and he was there,” Netanyahu said.
The Israeli leader thanked Congress for its support for Israel, including the funding of the highly successful Iron Dome missile defense system.
“This capital dome helped build our Iron Dome,” Netanyahu said.
Moving to the topic of Iran, Netanyahu drew a parallel between the upcoming Jewish holiday of Purim—which commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia—and the modern-day Iranian threat.
“Today the Jewish people face another attempt by yet another Persian” leader to “destroy the Jewish people,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister said Iran is seeking to take over the Middle East, dominating four capitals in the region—Baghdad (Iraq), Damascus (Syria), Beirut (Lebanon), and Sana’a (Yemen)—and exporting its brand of jihad across the world.
While Netanyahu noted that the Iranian people are “very talented,” he said that in 1979, the country was hijacked by “religious zealots”—in reference to the Iranian Revolution of that year, under Ayatollah Khomeini.
Iran’s founding documents espouse the idea of “death, tyranny and the pursuit of jihad,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu also took aim at Iran’s current president, Hassan Rouhani, who has been touted by some as being a moderate compared to his Holocaust-denying predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Iranian regime is “as radical as ever,” Netanyahu declared, saying that the country’s ideology is rooted in militant Islam.
Netanyahu cautioned against seeing Iran as an ally in the fight against the Islamic State, a Sunni Muslim terrorist organization that has conquered large swaths of Syria and Iraq and has been battling Iranian-backed Shi’a Muslim terror groups such as Hezbollah.
“The battle of Iran against ISIS (Islamic State) doesn’t turn Iran into a friend,” Netanyahu said. “When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy.”
Addressing reports that the U.S. has cut off intelligence sharing with Israel on the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 powers, Netanyahu highlighted two major aspects of the emerging deal with Iran that he said are already “public record.”
Netanyahu said the ability for Iran to retain its nuclear infrastructure in a deal is “dangerous” and could lead to a quick nuclear breakout capability. Secondly, he warned against the proposed lifting of restrictions on Iran 10 years after an agreement is signed.
“Not a single nuclear facility would be demolished,” Netanyahu said, saying that nuclear breakout time under the proposed terms of the deal could be less than a year, according to U.S. assessments. In a decade—what Netanyahu called “a blink of an eye”—Iran could produce “many, many nuclear bombs.”
Towards the end of his address, Netanyahu laid out three demands for Iran: Stop attacks against countries in the region, stop supporting terrorism around the world, and stop “threatening to annihilate my country, Israel, the one and only Jewish state.”
Netanyahu called for a “better deal” than what is currently being discussed, saying that restrictions on Iran should stay in place “until Iran’s aggression ends.”
“A better deal that won’t give Iran an easy path to the bomb [is needed],” he said.
Netanyahu urged Congress to reject the reported parameters of the proposed deal with Iran.
“For over a year, we’ve been told that no deal is better than a bad deal,” Netanyahu said. “Well, this is a bad deal. It’s a very bad deal. We’re better off without it.”
Netanyahu said the world is at a “fateful crossroads” between a “bad deal” that will lead to a nuclear Iran, and a second path that would prevent a nuclear-armed Iran.
Quoting the poet Robert Frost, he said, “The road less traveled will make all the difference in terms of peace.”
Netanyahu concluded his speech by quoting Moses, whose portrait appears inside of the U.S. Capitol.
“Be strong and resolute, neither fear nor dread them,” Netanyahu said, adding, “May Israel and America always stand together, strong and resolute.”
The build-up to Netanyahu’s address was unprecedented, with nearly every major broadcast news network or newspaper devoting considerable coverage to the event, and tickets in high demand.
“The tickets are hotter than fresh latkes,” U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York) told the New York Times.
Daniel Pipes, president and founder of the Middle East Forum think tank, told JNS.org that Netanyahu’s speech “touched on the key issues in the prospective Iran deal, skirted American politics, and spoke eloquently about Israel and Jews.”
Pastor John Hagee, founder and chairman of Christians United for Israel, said America and the world “had the opportunity to experience a Churchill moment with Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel.”
“In the dark days of World War II, when Hitler and the Nazis were destroying Europe, Winston Churchill addressed the British making this statement: ‘You ask what is our aim. I can answer in one word: It is victory … for without victory, there is no survival,'” Hagee told JNS.org.
“Today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it very clear that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb,” added Hagee. “To quote the prime minister, ‘no deal is better than a bad deal.’ This is the hour that America has heard the truth, and now we must respond with meaningful legislation to guarantee liberty for both Israel and America.”
U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-New York), the only Jewish Republican in Congress, said in a statement, “The prime minister reinforced to Congress today that he does not oppose an agreement with Iran; he opposes a bad agreement. The Iranian regime has shown no indication that it’s willing to abandon its nuclear program. Iran continues to get by with billions of dollars in relief from sanctions, as they continue to successfully buy more time and continue to pursue nuclear capability.”
“Now is the time for members from both sides of the aisle to work together to strengthen our relationship with Israel, our strategic partner in the Middle East, a beacon of democracy, freedom and liberty in an area filled with darkness,” Zeldin said. “It is my hope that the Obama administration will start standing with our allies in Israel and stop protecting our enemies.”

Finally. Someone is calling out 200-plus groups and organizations in America that openly display bigotry toward the Christian faith. Kudos to the American Family Association for spotlighting those groups – and sending some of them into damage-control mode.

In 2007, and with that same nauseating arrogance that has come to define him, then presidential candidate Barack Obama duplicitously quipped, “I am absolutely convinced that culture wars are just so ’90s. Their days are growing dark.”

Dark, indeed. America’s soon-to-be cultural-Marxist-in-chief would then spend the greater part of a decade waging war against our nation’s Judeo-Christian culture and heritage at levels, and in ways, unseen in our storied history. Today, his anti-Christian crusade continues unabated. In fact, and with less than two years left to complete his baleful conspiracy, this neo-pagan extremist has begun to rapidly accelerate his unravelings.

Chief among his targets for destruction are conservative and Christian organizations and individuals who pose a threat to his envisaged “fundamental transformation” of our once-Judeo-Christian nation. The Obama vision? A godless, Euro-socialist dystopia crafted in his own secular-humanist self-image.

We’re well on our way.

Still, even the president of the United States, alone, cannot destroy an entire nation from within. His sinister (yes, sinister) objective of a Christ-less society (Jesus is the real target here) is shared by many who, like Obama, labor under the darkest of spiritual deceptions.

To accomplish the larger “progressive” dream of unmaking America, this man, this cagey figure of whom we still know very little, finds himself flanked by powerful comrades in arms – by hundreds of equally extremist and very well-funded anti-Christian groups.

That’s why I was so encouraged this past week to see one of America’s largest and most effective mainstream Christian organizations fighting back. The Mississippi-based American Family Association (AFA) has developed and released a tremendous resource for the fair-minded American public. It’s an interactive “Anti-Christian bigotry map,” which identifies “more than 200 groups and organizations that openly display bigotry toward the Christian faith.”

The AFA has also announced that it will be monitoring these anti-Christian segregationists’ activities, reporting on those activities to the general public and further warning the tens of millions of Christian Americans of specifics relative to their radical campaign of religious cleansing.

“The website … includes an interactive map that identifies groups whose actions are deeply intolerant of the Christian religion,” notes AFA. “Their actions, for example, have endorsed efforts to silence Christians and to remove all public displays of Christian heritage and faith in America.”

Among the over 200 anti-Christian organizations exposed by the Christian watchdog group are some of the most strident atheist, humanist and “LGBT” extremist outfits in America. The ironically named Human Rights Campaign (HRC), for example, is listed among them. The HRC’s co-founder is accused homosexual pedophile Terry Bean. He was arrested a few months ago for allegedly raping a 15-year-old boy.

Another of the more high-profile groups listed is the hard-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). The SPLC’s propagandist activities have been linked by the FBI to anti-Christian domestic terrorism (something I long ago predicted would happen).

Also on the list are the Freedom From Religion Foundation; the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN); and many more.

“A common practice of these groups is threatening our nation’s schools, cities and states,” said AFA president Tim Wildmon.

“By threat of lawsuit, they demand that prayer be removed from schools and city council meetings, that Ten Commandments monuments be stricken from courthouses, and that memorial crosses be purged from cemeteries and parks,” he added.

“Families and businesses that express a Christian worldview on social issues often face vicious retaliation from anti-Christian zealots, and it’s time to call them out for their intolerance,” urged Wildmon. “Because of anti-Christian bigotry, private business owners have been sued and forced to close their businesses.”

AFA is warning Christian Americans to be vigilant in that some associated with the 200-plus anti-Christian groups have actually “committed violent crimes against Christians and faith-based groups,” and that “physical and profane verbal assaults against Christians” have been, and continue to be, regularly used as “angry methods of intimidation.”

In 2012, for instance, SPLC supporter and homosexual activist Floyd Lee Corkins entered the Washington, DC, headquarters of another of America’s largest mainstream Christians organizations, the Family Research Council (FRC), armed with a gun and a backpack full of ammunition. He also had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches he intended to smear in the faces of FRC employees after he slaughtered them all (FRC had recently defended the food chain’s COO, Dan Cathy, for pro-natural marriage statements).

Thankfully, Corkins’ designs on mass murder were thwarted by FRC facilities manager and security specialist Leo Johnson. As Corkins shouted disapproval for FRC’s “politics,” he shot Johnson who, despite a severely wounded arm, managed to tackle Corkins and disarm him. (Of course, this is all impossible as it’s illegal in Washington, DC, to carry a concealed weapon.)

Of Johnson’s actions, DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier said, “The security guard here is a hero, as far as I’m concerned.”

No doubt.

Court documents and FBI evidence later revealed, as many had suspected, that the SPLC was, while indirectly so, at least to some degree complicit in this particular act of anti-Christian terrorism. Corkins had used, and confessed to having been incited by, the SPLC’s anti-Christian propaganda.

Thankfully, the SPLC, the HRC and hundreds more of these anti-Christian organizations are now being called out and held accountable. Understandably, they’ve begun scrambling for damage control. They’re on the defensive.

And yet they continue to defend the indefensible.

A Messianic Jewish leader expects Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be extremely “Churchillian” – much to the chagrin of the White House – when he addresses a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.

It isn’t yet clear just how many Democrats might skip the Israeli leader’s address tomorrow morning. Democrats urged Netanyahu to postpone the speech or hold it behind closed doors, but he turned them down.

Democrats who do attend are expected to hear the prime minister criticize President Barack Obama over his efforts to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran – one of the Jewish nation’s Middle East nemeses and one of four countries described by the U.S. State Department as “a state sponsor of terrorism.” Netanyahu, who is up for re-election in a few weeks, opposes such a deal as too weak and says a nuclear-capable Iran is a serious threat to Israel.

Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, offers her assessment of the Israeli leader and his current visit.

“I believe that Benjamin Netanyahu is the Churchill of our day – and he’s making this current administration look like utter fools,” she tells OneNewsNow. “And of course that’s another reason they don’t want this to happen [because] he’s going to come and he’s going to appear extremely ‘Churchillian.’ And he’s going to send a warning to the world: Wake up before it’s too late.”

But Markell thinks the greater implication will be the judgment that is coming upon America.

“Based on Genesis 12:3, God blesses those who bless Israel [and] he curses those who curse Israel,” she shares. “And the Obama administration is in the process of so cursing Israel, allowing a furthering of the Iranian nuclear agenda for obliterating God’s covenant land and people Israel.”

The ministry leader believes Israel will eventually be compelled to take out the Iranian nuclear sites without any assistance from Barack Obama. IsraelNationalNews.com reported over the weekend that President Obama “thwarted” such an Israeli military attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities last year by threatening to shoot down Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran.
