Obama’s Hypocrisy on Religious Freedom

President Barack Obama’s 2016 proclamation for Religious Freedom Day, which was celebrated Jan. 16, rightly stated that religious freedom has long been considered one of America’s “most cherished ideals.” He wrote:
The United States stands for the protection of equal rights for all people to practice their faith freely, without fear or coercion, and as Americans, we understand that when people of all religions are accepted and are full and equal members of our society, we are all stronger and freer.
Obama is correct. All Americans should be able to be free to live out their religious principles.
Yet some of the greatest threats to religious freedom in America in recent years have come from policies he supports. The Obamacare contraceptive mandate, for example, has resulted in government persecution of an order of religious sisters. Their case will be heard at the Supreme Court this spring.
The Little Sisters of the Poor seek to continue their mission of serving the elderly poor while operating in accordance with their religious beliefs without fear of incurring government penalties. With the Obamacare requirement in place, they face millions in government fines for doing so.
In ruling on the Little Sisters of the Poor case, the Supreme Court has the opportunity to reaffirm the foundational right to religious freedom. Religious sisters—and all Americans—should be free to live and act in accord with their religious convictions.
Another recent threat to religious freedom comes with the spread of proposed sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) laws, on the state and federal levels. The Heritage Foundation’s Ryan T. Anderson writes:
[Sexual orientation and gender identity] laws threaten the freedom of citizens, individually and in associations, to affirm their religious or moral convictions—convictions such as that marriage is the union of one man and one woman or that maleness and femaleness are objective biological realities to be valued and affirmed, not rejected or altered. Under SOGI laws, acting on these beliefs in a commercial or educational context could be actionable discrimination.
These unnecessary laws threaten religious freedom—some of them offer no religious protections at all. For example, the proposed “Equality Act”—which was endorsed by Obama himself—“contains no protections for religious belief or conduct.”
One of the best ways the federal government could ensure continued religious freedom in our nation would be to pass the First Amendment Defense Act. This act preserves religious freedom for those who dissent from the Supreme Court’s redefinition of marriage and ensures that all Americans will have the ability to continue living out their deeply held religious and moral beliefs.
Religious freedom is a fundamental right, a right America has a proud tradition of respecting. Let’s make sure that tradition continues.

What better place than the Davos Forum in Switzerland to offer “the new image of Canada” to the people who count? Like George Soros, who elected Justin Trudeau, his favorite politician. The compassionate Canadian premier in Davos was shown with a Jamaican who praised the green energies at the Caribbean and a woman who told him of her suffering in Gaza.
Since being elected, “baby face” Trudeau has excelled in photo opportunities and tears.
There is the photo of Trudeau receiving, between “ahlan sahlan wa” (welcome in Arabic) and a selfie, the first group of Syrian migrants at the Toronto airport, reaching out to them with warm clothes to face the Canadian winter. There is the photo in which Trudeau, to atone for his sense of guilt, is dressed in a robe of Indian natives and dances to a Punjabi song. There is a photo in which Trudeau appears in a sort of gay nativity alongside an MP of his party, his partner and their two daughters conceived with the surrogate mother.
But the first real test of leadership, the massacre in Burkina Faso and the killing of six civilians who were Canadians, served to wipe off Trudeau’s smile. Yves Richard, who lost his wife Maude in the massacre, hung up on the phone call from the Canadian Prime Minister, who had waited three days before presenting his condolences. Maude’s mother has instead told Trudeau that if he wants to honor her murdered daughter, he must abandon his plans for disengagement from the war on the Islamic state.
The day after the killing of Canadians in Burkina Faso, where they had gone to build schools and hospitals, Trudeau visited a mosque in Peterborough. And when he spoke at the podium, Trudeau equated the terrorist attack with the arson at a mosque in Canada. He used stronger words for the mosque than those he used to condemn the massacre in Burkina Faso.
It is the impossible paradox of a liberal prime minister who, since being elected, defended the right of Canadian women to wear the hijab (Islamic veil), but also praised Canadian secularism and in whose government, half of his ministers chose not to pronounce the words of the rite “So Help Me God” during their oath.
And the Prime Minister has already made it clear that for Israel, which had a great and principled ally in Harper’s Canada, the music has already changed.
The first political gesture by Prime Minister “baby face” Trudeau was the withdrawal of the six Canadian fighter bombers engaged in the war on ISIS. This despite the fact that Canada is, in proportion to its population, the country from which more volunteers left to fight for the Caliphate. Terrorism has not been the priority of Trudeau in these three months, not like “gender equality”, global warming and the injustice committed centuries ago against the Natives. And the Prime Minister has already made it clear that for Israel, which had a great and principled ally in Harper’s Canada, the music has already changed.
Trudeau’s government itself is a postcard vision of political correctness: half of the ministers are women (“we are in 2015!” chanted Trudeau at the presentation of the executive), there are two Aboriginal and three members of the Sikh minority, including a disabled person and an Afghan refugee.
A policy of “inclusion” that Trudeau has also applied to migrants is open doors for male homosexual Syrians, less to heterosexuals because those are more likely to embrace ISIS. At least in the magical world of Justin Trudeau who, according to the perfidious Ezra Levant, “cannot distinguish Hummus from Hamas”.
Trudeau’s stupid smile is the mirror of the Western decadence.

In his final State of the Union address, President Obama chastised Congress for not giving him the authority to go to war with ISIS (or support them as many Iraqi’s believe) saying “If this Congress is serious about winning this war, and wants to send a message to our troops and the world, you should finally authorize the use of military force against ISIL.”Following that address, he probably didn’t expect two Republican Senators to push for a bill that would give him even more authority than he asked for.
Earlier this week, Senator Mitch McConnell fast tracked a bill written by Senator Lindsey Graham, which would give Obama the Authority to officially deploy our military against ISIS and then some.
WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) caught nearly everybody off guard late Wednesday by quietly clearing the path for new legislation to declare war on the self-described Islamic State — an issue he’d signaled for months he had no interest in touching.
McConnell introduced a sweeping authorization for the use of military force, or AUMF, that would give the president new authority to take action against the militant group also known as ISIS or ISIL. It wouldn’t put any limits on the duration, geography or use of U.S. ground combat troops in the war, or on the means by which the U.S. military could act. It also would keep in place a broad AUMF from 2001 that never expired and that allows the president to take military action against anyone, anywhere, connected to the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks.
In other words, it’s a war authorization that’s as wide open as it gets.
Make no mistake, this doesn’t grant Obama the authority to strike ISIS. This gives him unlimited war powers in the broadest sense. ISIS has popped up all over the world. Countless insurgencies and terrorist groups have aligned themselves to the group. They encourage Muslims in every country to conduct terror attacks in their name, even if they’ve never met that person. ISIS isn’t just a group of zealots in Syria and Iraq. They are a banner which people can rally around, which means that ISIS can technically be anywhere.
In other words, this AUMF wouldn’t just give Obama permission strike ISIS anywhere in the world. It gives him the ability to deploy our military anywhere in the world, foreign or domestic, for an undetermined period of time, at the mere suggestion that ISIS is there. And it won’t be hard for them to prove ISIS is there, since anyone can wave their flag and carry out attacks in their name.
By now this should all sound very familiar to you. 9/11 invoked the same response from our government. They declared a War on Terrorism, which is nothing more than a tactic that anyone could use, thus allowing our government to take its war machine into any country on the planet.
But after the Bush administration fell out of favor with the American public, so too did theWar on Terror. The war never stopped of course, but the term has lost its emotional charge, and isn’t used very often anymore. This bill aims to bring back the same sentiment with different words. It’s the War on Terror 2.0, which will henceforth be dubbed “The War on ISIS,” coming to a town near you.

The marriage between Islamic supremacism and Western dhimmitude does not appear headed for divorce any time soon. The rise of Islam and the collapse of the West continue apace. With the exception of one or two stories from earlier in the week, noted below is a sampling from the past 72 hours that exposes the madness that is washing over the West without relent.
Austria: An organization formed called “Fortified Austria” to beat back the Muslim invasion and the founders include military officers, both retired and those currently serving. (here)

Belgium: A fourteen-year-old girl fell victim to human trafficking by Muslim invaders. (here)
Canada: The husband of one of the Canadians who was slaughtered in the Burkina Faso terror attack hung up on P.M. Trudeau after Trudeau called him to offer his condolences. An imam told his congregants to hire Muslims only and to only do business with Muslims. (here and here)
The Czech Republic: Speaking about the Islamic invasion of Europe, the former president stated that “[i]t is a war on our whole continent.” (here)
Finland: A 500-strong vigilante patrol to protect women and girls is at risk of being banned by the government. Nearly 70% of “asylum seekers” would rather return to their home country than deal with the cold weather. (here and here)
France: An Islamic convert was arrested after he recruited his girlfriend to become a jihadist. “Refugees” stormed the port of Calais and forced their way onto a British ferry. (here and here)
Germany: The country lost track of nearly half (600,000) of the colonizers they admitted last year, with many suspected to be in other countries by now. A 16-year-old girl recorded a scathing video that exposed the insanity of the government and the dangerous climate across the country. A man who came to the aid of two women being attacked by Muslims was brutally beaten by same. A Muslim group blamed women for being raped and suggests Germany stop selling alcohol as the solution to the problem. An imam claimed that girls who drink beer deserve to be groped. The list of female victims of the New Year’s Eve mass sexual assaults reached 1,000, with more than 125 gang rapes, and so far only two assailants are in jail. An Islamic State jihadi “storm trooper” who hunted down spies and defectors to be tortured and beheaded and who returned to Germany in January will go on trial. A Syrian jihadi was arrested for a suspected war crime. After importing hordes of Muslim invaders, Merkel observed that anti-Semitism is worse than imagined. United Kingdom: “Open Borders” activists hosted a welcome party for “migrants.” The Bishop of London stated that Vicars should grow beards as a gesture of outreach to Muslims. The media continued to uphold double standards, publishing a story of a Buddhist monk who slashed tires which they ascribed to his religious beliefs while avoiding making similar connections between Muslim acts of violence. Reports emerged that after countless Muslim children were forced to watch beheading videos with their family, 2,000 such children have been referred to de-radicalization programs over the past four years. A 9-year-old girl was rescued from being sent to Afghanistan to be married to her 18-year-old cousin. A Muslim family that owns many gas stations refused to sell alcohol while claiming their decision has nothing to do with Islamic law. A European group that supports held a training course on lobbing and advocacy. A petition is circulating to ban Sharia law in the UK.amH (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here)
United States: The Obama administration eased visa rules for Europeans who have traveled to terror hot spots in the Middle East and Africa. The administration also released Al-Qeada’s top explosives expert from Guantanamo. A Seattle man accused of murdering four people was on the terror watch list. John Kerry admits some of the sanctions relief money going to Iran will fund terrorists. The wife of a terror suspect in Houston who may have been a child bride when they entered the country. Tennessee moved to stop Islamic religious indoctrination in public schools. None of the seven recently released Iranian prisoners have returned to Iran and some or all may still be in the United States. An employer dealing with Muslims on the production line wanting the entire line shut down for prayers tells CAIR to butt out of the dispute. An American female member of the Islamic State expressed joy that she finally got her suicide belt and can kill non-believers. A mosque with ties to terror got gun training. The former president of Doctors without Borders claimed that when Jewish men wear kippas they are announcing allegiance to Israel and are therefore fair game for Muslim violence. Muslim Brotherhood sympathizers arrived in the United States for anti-Sisi rallies. A Massachusetts Supreme Court Justice spoke at a mosque with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This short overview is by no means exhaustive and it does not include events that have been covered up and obviously excludes the many egregious acts that occurred but were not reported. It also does not include the hourly advance of the Muslim Brotherhood across America, the daily threat of mosques that preach jihad, refugee resettlement, or countless other insidious ways Islam makes inroads and tears down whole nations.
While I usually would offer commentary on information I share, I feel none is needed here. The Islamic advance speaks for itself and the West’s cowardice, complicity, and voluntary dhimmitude is on full display. There are glimmers of hope here and there, but as long as Western countries continue to import Muslims from Islamic lands, attempts to maintain law, order, and cultural identity will, in my view, remain hopelessly inadequate.
