Moses… a man who engaged in sacrificial fasting and intercession for others.  God told Moses He would “blot out their name from under heaven” because of their sin (Deut. 9:14).  This intercessor and man of God, went up of his own accord to humble himself greatly in fasting and petition on Israel’s behalf.

“Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so provoking him to anger…”  (Deut. 9:18 niv)

40 days and 40 nights he fasted and interceded, prostrating before the Lord.  Those in sin would not do it, but the man of God seriously implored the Father for mercy.  And judgment was deterred. “…But again the Lord listened to me.” (Deut. 9:19 niv)

…be the ones that “stand in the gap” as intercessors before our Father in heaven… for the nation we are in, and the people who yet need a Savior.

He is able to do what man cannot.  He can even- in mercy and grace- step in to turn the tide.

In Christ’s love and grace,

“And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down to the ground,
and put his face between his knees” …and it affected a nation.
