cdd The Struggle – Part Ten
Wasim’ s struggle continues:
“Our homecoming was not as nice as we thought. I was viewing the internet one day and received an email from an old friend. He was happy to make contact with me again. In our correspondence he asked me some questions about my Christianity. I answered him truthfully believing he was seeking a better life. Was I ever wrong! A few days later I was attacked by Muslims and injured badly. It was by the grace of God I survived. Satan was busy working against me and trying to punish me whenever I stood up for Jesus.
Two months later I received a legal notice from an attorney saying that I spoke against Islam. My emails were proof positive, he said he wanted to expose me in court for everyone to see. The law was clear that asking a Muslim to convert to Christianity was punishable by death. He clearly purposed to see me executed. Many before me had received such a sentence. We started praying about this issue and asked Jesus for help. We asked Him to move quickly on our behalf.
Over the years we had applied to many more countries than just the UK and New Zealand for a safe place of residency. But no one wanted us — that is until the Father stepped in. I emailed many Christian Brothers and Sisters looking for advice and help. They all told me to flee my country immediately. We couldn’t eat or sleep we were so upset.
I received a call from that evil attorney. He wanted to settle this issue immediately. He offered that if we all would come to the mosque and pretend that we were wrong and say the Christians paid us to join them, he would stop all legal action.
He even asked me for the name of the Christian who converted me from Islam. I answered, ‘Sorry, I cannot tell you, I cannot betray who led me to the Lord Jesus Christ and I cannot accept Islam. The Christians did not force me to accept Jesus Christ as my savior.’ He was very angry. A few days later, from my window, I saw a policeman at my door. He was carrying a summons for me. I did not answer.
My life in Afghanistan was over. Two days later a letter arrived from Kenya, Africa. Inside were Passports and Visas for my entire family. No one ever contacted us for interviews or indicated that we would have a chance to go there. Jesus had saved us again! We immediately arranged flights and as we were driving away to the airport several police cars were arriving at our home to arrest me. We escaped to the airport praying all the way. We checked in and boarded the plane. Still praying we were not being pursued. We took off on time and we were set free by the hand of God as we landed in Nairobi, Kenya.
God is with us and taking care of us in His mysterious ways. As I close I have one more testimony to share. We settled in a small city in Kenya. One particular day we were out of food, out of money and a bit desperate. We all held hands and prayed asking Jesus for help. Then I went for a walk. I was walking along when a man stopped me and asked if I needed prayer for anything. I told him our plight. We prayed together and then I returned home.
Before nightfall this man and friends were at our gate. We had food enough to sustain us.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, ‘Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.’ The next day at the same time another Christian brother was at our gate with a trunk full of food. We were given enough to last until I found a proper job.
I explained to Mariam that the promises of God are for us as in Hebrews 13:5-6,
‘Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. So we can say with confidence, The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’
By the grace of God we are well and alive in Kenya with many Christian brothers and sisters in Christ. I now serve the Lord with a local Church and my desire is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ among all people. God is so good to me and my family and He is taking care of us providing all we need. We have met some wonderful servants of the Lord and are constantly encouraged through them.”
In His Love,
Wasim, Mariam and family
Through the years we have lost contact with Wasim. Our contacts that first introduced us have also lost contact. It is hard to fathom living a life around the world where speaking the word “Jesus” brings a death penalty.
The life of Wasim and his family sheds new light on the scripture we place on each Cross planted around the world: 1 Corinthians 1:18: “For the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Wasim if you are out there and it is safe we would appreciate the opportunity to plant a Cross for you. I’m asking all our readers by way of this cdd to pray for you and your family and may the Lord shine His light brightly on all you do.
(Tomorrow I leave the Philippines for the USA. Please cover me in prayer and next week I’ll begin sharing the testimonies for the Philippine Crosses.) pb
Prayer: Father thank you for the encouragement of Wasim and his family. Please protect them and guide them while meeting their every need. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Wasim’ s struggle continues:
I was fasting and praying to the Father asking him to guide me about my future. Then I received a phone call from the USA. A Christian brother said, “We heard about you and we are very sorry. We have a brother near you named Teddy who is a US national. We have already talked with him and he will help you. When I phoned Teddy he was in his office. Teddy met with us and was very respectful. He offered us a place to stay, money and help in any way he could.
A few days later he called with a contact in Lesotho, Africa who would help. The church in Lesotho would provide a place to stay and help us resettle. There are not correct words to explain the love Teddy and his family offered us. They treated us as a true brother in Christ. We stayed in Lesotho for a month and then left for Botswana.
Then one day I received a packet from Sweden. I’m not sure how they found me but the package was a miracle. It was with great joy when I opened it and received a wonderful newspaper article which contained the early part of my testimony. In Sweden they were praying for us and now people around world would be praying. Jesus is so good!
We spent over 6 years in Botswana. Our church applied for New Zealand and UK residency for us but the requests were denied. I met a friend from my country of Afghanistan who convinced me that things were infinitely better at home. I longed to return. So we moved back. When another friend confirmed that the situation is better in our country, we decided to return to our home land. Final Part Tomorrow.
Prayer: Father thank you for the journey of Wasim and how You have showed us faith in action, while he was under the most difficult, of circumstances. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
