Phyllis Schlafly has been watching the GOP establishment pick our presidential candidates since before she wrote about it in her book, “A Choice not an Echo,” in 1964. She will tell you, the only president elected in her lifetime without the blessing of the establishment was Ronald Reagan.
Reagan’s ability to communicate with and inspire the American people was the only force more powerful than the money and apparatus of the establishment machine.
Jeb Bush was obviously the pick of the establishment. The money was there, and Bush was definitely spending it, but the GOP primary voter has not been swayed by the hundreds of millions of dollars being thrown at them.
After South Carolina, this is a very different race.
Bush is out, and Rubio is the clear heir of the establishment crown that Jeb relinquished when he suspended his campaign.
The D.C. cartel will do anything to preserve the status quo. The thought of a true outsider winning the Republican nomination is bone chilling to the establishment. Its political life depends on taxpayer money flowing through D.C. and into its pockets and the pockets of its cronies. At this point, the establishment’s only hope is Marco Rubio.

This presidential primary has now become the classic three-man race: The two front-runners shred each other, and the third man slides right past them for the win.
Now that Jeb is out, Rubio will inherit some of his support. More importantly, he gets the full support of the establishment apparatus.
Jeb’s departure from the campaign is a major victory for grassroots conservatives but could be devastating in the long run.
The outsiders needed a divided establishment to continue winning primaries, but now that the establishment has its candidate in Rubio, it will unite against the divided outsiders.
Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and their supporters will soon need to make a choice: One or the other. You can’t have both.

In one of the upcoming primaries, Marco Rubio will get a win under his belt, and that may serve to wake up outsiders and force them to unite.
Ted Cruz had better read “The Art of the Deal” now, because at some point in the near future, Donald Trump will offer Cruz a deal.
Unless Cruz pulls into first place soon, he would be wise to take Trump’s deal. Whether it is an offer to be Trump’s running mate, or some other promise, Cruz will either need to step down, or he will hand the election to Marco Rubio.
If Trump and Cruz are both in this race until the end, this will just be another presidential race for Phyllis Schlafly to write about how the establishment installed its candidate and the grassroots got the shaft.
At this point, Cruz may not have any hope of winning the presidency, but he holds all the cards in his decision to hand the election to the establishment. An outsider victory lies solely in the hands of Ted Cruz. One way or another, his commitment to ousting the establishment will become obvious.

Police: Here’s who really controls public sidewalk
A police officer in Hollywood, Florida, has told participants in the pro-life 40 Days for Life prayer campaign that abortionists at a local clinic can control use of the public sidewalk adjacent to their building.
The stunning claim prompted the Thomas More Society to dispatch a letter to city officials asking them to confirm that the banishment was a mistake.
“Officer Del Castillo’s order is a clearly unconstitutional restriction of our clients’ freedom of speech in a traditional public forum – a public sidewalk,” the legal team said in a letter Tuesday to city officials.
“First Amendment rights are at their maximum in public fora. The Supreme Court has noted that ‘use of the streets and public places has, from ancient times, been a part of the privileges, immunities, rights, and liberties of citizens,’” the letter said.

A city official said an investigation was under way.
But the Thomas More Society explained that the prayer vigil is in the midst of its 40-day run.
On the first day, several volunteers, including Nancy Farmer, John Hickey and Jay Ross, showed up at the abortion business, where previous prayer vigils had been held. But they were ordered by Castillo to move off the public sidewalk.
“Castillo asserted that since the clinic ‘maintains’ both the sidewalk and the swale, the clinic is permitted to exclude whomever it cho[o]ses – presumably those whose viewpoints it disagrees with – from walking on ‘their’ property,” Thomas More explained.
The officer, however, “told the 40 Days Hollywood volunteers they could stand on the public swale adjacent to the sidewalk, without explaining the rationale for banning volunteers from the sidewalk but not the swale.”
The officer informed the volunteers “that he was noting in a report that he had issued this order, presumably with the intent to ticket or otherwise punish any individual who violated his order.”
The lawyers wrote to city officials: “It is clear that that order is illegal and, we presume, undertaken without your knowledge. That order – banning First Amendment activity on public property, namely a public sidewalk – if truly reflective of the position taken by the city of Hollywood and the Hollywood Police Department, would be a clear violation of our clients’ First Amendment rights.
“We would like to promptly and amicably resolve the issue … [with] confirmation from the city of Hollywood and the office of the chief of police that officer Del Castillo was mistaken.”
“Forbidding pro-lifers from standing on public property violates 75 years of clear Supreme Court precedent that gives broad protections to those engaging in free speech in public places,” said Corrina Konczal, associate counsel for the Thomas More Society. “We are confident that, once the city and chief of police are made aware of this officer’s unconstitutional ban, that they will reverse this order and assure our clients of their rights to publicly pray and hold signs on any sidewalk in the city.”
The pro-life activists typically stand on the sidewalks and pray, sometimes holding signs such as “Pray to End Abortion.”
“We should not be banned from the public sidewalk just because we’re pro-life,” John Hickey said in a statement released through Thomas More.
“We’re exercising our First Amendment rights by holding a peaceful prayer vigil to help women and unborn children. Hopefully, Officer Del Castillo’s supervisors will reverse his incorrect order so that our free speech will be respected for the rest of the 40 Days vigil.”

WND has reported over the years on efforts to curb pro-life speech, from “bubble zones” to outright bans during political campaigns.
But even international organizations, including the European Court of Human Rights, have begun upholding the freedom of speech regarding pro-life issues.
In Germany, a man was banned from mentioning the names of abortionists in leaflets he distributed in a neighborhood. The decision was reversed by the European Court of Human Rights, which found that the German courts had failed to strike a fair balance between the man’s right to freedom of expression and the doctor’s personality rights.
The court, according to the non-governmental European Center for Law and Justice, ruled “there can be no doubt as to the acute sensitivity of the moral and ethical issues raised by the question of abortion or as to the importance of the public interest at stake.”
Therefore, the court concluded, freedom of expression in regard to abortion should enjoy full protection.

The only way to vet is to compare that individual’s story and the data they are providing you, against an objective, confirmed database – a source that you know is true. You check that against their presentations to the individual who’s interviewing them. As Director Comey of the FBI, has testified on the Hill, we do not have that database to check refugee data against. It doesn’t even exist. Even if it existed in Syria, the Assad regime would not give us access to that information. So when it comes to the very basic 101 of national security, we don’t have the manpower, nor do we have the objective data – the verifiable data – available to do a proper refugee screening as the U.S. national security would require.
